About Buddy ~ 7mo Cattle Dog X(On Trial 7/1/22)
Meet Buddy, a 7mth old Cattle Dog cross. Through no fault of his own, Buddy found himself lonely at the pound before coming to rescue.
The experience left him a little scared and unsure of people, but since coming into our care,
Buddy has improved with his shyness. He still has a bit to go and will need a patient and
understanding family who will continue with lots of TLC and space, but once he trusts, he will be forever yours.
Buddy loves a cuddle on the lounge after a big play and he loves running around and playing
with his foster sister. Having another friendly, well-adjusted dog in the family will really help
Buddy to come out of his shell and learn to not be so shy of people. Even when Buddy is around new people, he just likes to stay away or behind his foster mum’s legs to make sure he is safe.
You can see that Buddy is curious and he does really want you to pat him, and he will approach you, because he secretly does love company and attention. He has been around young children and he has been fine. Again, he just keeps a wide berth until he feels safe enough to be their friend. Do keep in mind that even though he hasn’t been or shown any issues around the little kids, he is a cattle dog and loud, squeaky noises from kids could make him nip at their ankles.
He has done a bit of walking on the lead and isn’t too bad, but because of his shyness and not really understanding what the good life looks like, he hasn’t ventured far, so will need
consistency in teaching him. Buddy is a working breed, so he does have a good amount of
energy to burn – both physically and mentally.
Buddy sleeps inside and is crate trained, which he learnt quite easily, so training him in general won’t be a hard task (except for toilet training, which we are working on). He is very responsive to his people and will come when called and won’t venture too far from your side.
Buddy’s forever home will need to have an active lifestyle and understanding of his needs – not only his breed, but his shy-ness. Buddy hasn’t met any other dogs yet, but loves his foster sister, who has been an amazing mentor and calming influence on him and in return.
Buddy has been a great playmate for her. Buddy has been welcomed inside with his foster family whenever he pleases, so having this as a continuum in his new home is important and he would enjoy it if someone was at home, either full time or part time. Like all our rescue dogs, Buddy will need a good safe and secure yard and one with a bit of room for him to run.
He is still a puppy and does have typical puppy traits of chewing and digging, but with proper physical and mental exercise, he’ll grow out of it.
Buddy is in care in Cessnock NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Buddy’s adoption fee is $600, and he has been microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, and treated for fleas and worms.
