Here’s the thing. I don’t come with a bad reputation. I don’t have cattitude. I’m not a biter or a scratcher (gentle is my middle name). And I have this uncanny ability to get along with dogs. (I like cuddling up to my current pooch, you know like a teddy bear – and she doesn’t mind a bit. In fact I’m pretty sure she loves it). Then there’s kids. The little kind. I happily take them in my stride too. I know, I know, it all sounds too good to be true, but I swear upon all my nine lives, I’m not telling a word of a lie.
Thing is I’m a real homebody (not much of an adventurer) and like being in my happy place, inside, where it’s safe and warm, and I can get lots of cuddles and plenty of attention. I suppose you could say I’m a little bit needy (I prefer the term super-friendly) but I like to think it’s cute and part of my unique character. While I am good looking with a beautiful charcoal coat, I would never let that go to my head. I’m just here to be loved, I don’t expect adoration or to be put on a pedestal (although feel free if that’s what you want to do). Pats and cuddles, delicious food and comfy places to snooze the day away will do me just fine. And while I do like those canine creatures, I find other cats bully me a bit, so I can be a bit tentative around my own kind. I think it would be best that I be the sole puss of your house. We are run by volunteers. We are online between 10am and 6pm daily and try to respond within 24 hours. If you want us to follow up, you can text the Cat Phone on 0415-241-211.
To adopt from us you'll be required to have minimum an online meet & greet, a remote house check, show photo ID & proof of address, and fill out & sign an adoption contract.
Our animals are fully vet checked, flea treated, wormed, vaccinated and desexed before being advertised. They are evaluated for behavioural traits, fed a high-quality diet, and any known issues are communicated. NOT NEGOTIABLE CONDITIONS: indoor only/restrained to property & must be fed raw or vet prescription wet food.
We will communicate through every step of the process to ensure that the experience is excellent your feline companion is the right fit. Read the contract for T&Cs for returns.
You must have residency in Australia to adopt from Cat People of Melbourne. If you are visiting or on a visa, talk to us about fostering instead!
