About Opal - Special Needs - Blind Female
This little princess requires a special home because she is 100% blind. She was born without retina's or optic nerves so cannot even see shades or shadows, but don't let that fool you.....she is so amazing her foster carer didn't even realise she was blind for 2 weeks after she got her. She runs and plays with her siblings. (See video) She climbs up and down on to things, she is fine with her kitty litter and doesn't miss a beat when it comes to finding her food!
She MUST be 100% indoors, this is not negotiable. If she has access to an outdoor cat run I am sure she would love this too. No young children, she cannot see to get out of the way if someone is going to accidentally step on her etc. This is also not negotiable. She is untested with dogs but she is such a confident girl I think she would settle in okay with a SMALL, cat friendly dog given the right introductions.
She needs to go to a home where there will be people around most of the day or be adopted with one of her siblings. She needs company for stimulation because she does not get the visual stimulation that other cats get.
She is loving and gentle and such a sweet girl. She loves her pats and melts in to your hand when you scratch her neck. She will need a home that will patiently teach her where her new litter tray is, once she knows and can find her way around a new house she will be fine with the litter. She can't have tall scratching posts because this would be dangerous for her, small ones she is fine with. She loves the noise the cat tunnel makes when she runs through it, probably her favorite toy.
Please don't decide to adopt this girl out of pity or because having a blind cat might be a novelty. It will be a long time to have her live in your house and she needs to be adopted for the right reasons.
