Eggnog is a beautiful big boy who loves affection, pats, having a companion and food glorious food. He will do well in a home with children 8 plus. Another easy going dog to live with would be great but he is happy with either human or dog company. He is a little too excited about cats. A home where Eggnog can be inside or outside by choice and high fences would be a good fit.
Eggnog is a fairly low energy dog but still likes going for a walk and explore, he is currently learning some walking and socialising etiquette and doing well on a halti. Whilst walking he enjoys his own space, he doesn’t show interest in meeting other dogs on walks but tolerates their inquisitiveness in him. Eggnog likes his family circle. Eggnog is eager to please and will sit and shake, he’s a good boy and doesn’t jump. He shows no signs of boredom behaviour (no digging or chewing or thieving) but definitely needs constant company otherwise he is a very sad boy. He is 100% toilet trained.
Eggnog can be loud to anyone passing by the home. He is very vocally protective of his home and family. He loves sharing space with our dog (medium size) but he isn’t playful, he definitely enjoys the company. Eggnog loves following the kids around just to be with them. He does need continued work on food aggression (dog only, doesn’t try challenge for human food) Eggnog will also need continued work on separation anxiety, ideally his new home will have someone home often or another resident dog to be with when you are not home. He does not like being alone.
He is going to need someone that can help him be more confident with new people and surroundings. When he meets anyone new he is not at all calm or relaxed, he is anxious and protective. He's very vocal when anyone enters our home or surrounds but has shown no signs of physical aggression. The barking stops after 5 minutes but introductions are slow and he's always on the back foot...he's not at all trusting. We are showing Eggnog so much love and he is super happy in our home with us but new people are very much a cause of anxiety, especially males, he is just so scared and unsure of them.
He has now been introduced to a senior male dog which had zero hiccups, it went great and he was also introduced to a 3 year old child, he showed complete disinterest, not a hiccup to report.
Eggnog has an underlying medical issue that will need continued treatment until resolved - please read medical notes.
