About Barney ~ 16mo Kelpie X Ridgeback(On Trial 17/2/22)
Meet Barney!
A 16 month old handsome mixed breed – think kelpie crossed with ridgeback looks.
Hey G…Im Barney but you can call me Barnay.
To sum it up….. I’m da goat, I’m dope, I’m lit and I’m looking for a new crib.
My homies are 2 old dames and a gansta… but he old, like real old.
Ma mom got this freaky salty cat too. I don’t mess with him, no way. That cat sleep near me, I keep one eye open cos he’ll go all ninja on me.
Now ma mom gonna tell you the rest about me cos she’ll keep it trill.
Peace out homies!!
Hi im Barneys foster mom and this sweet, affectionate‘homie’ currently resides with my 3 adult dogs and 1 old dog-savvy cat. We also have noisy caged chickens that he has never shown much interest in.
Barney is a clever, energetic dog who needs both physical and mental stimulation. He is very food motivated and moderately toy motivated too. He likes to retrieve a kicked ball and alsoloves a game of tug. He is a happy boy and likes to initiate play with his ‘dames’ but they are a bit tame for his liking. He really enjoys running leashed next to my bike and would possibly make for a great running buddy.
Since coming into care Barney has definitely settled down and has learnt many house rules.
He still does get excited meeting new people and although he doesn’t jump on people anymore he does sometimes jump next to them. Firm boundaries and a calming environment will also help this.
He has learnt thresholds so he no longer barges through doorways, gates etc. He walks well on a leash and can be mildly reactive but I believe this will get better with time. He would need you to commit to continuing his basic training to enable him to be the best version of himself.
He is fully toilet trained and sleeps in his crate overnight. He often lays in his crate during the day and I would highly recommend this be continued. This ‘homie’ also has a ‘sooky lala’ side and takes his ‘blanky’ in his crate for a suckle.
His ideal ‘crib’ would be either with another dog/dogs or someone thats home mostly and will invest time into his ongoing training and socialisation.
If you think you and your crew could be a good fit for ‘da goat’ apply today!
