About Innes
ADOPTION PROFILE
Name: Innes
DOB: 27/05/2021
Gender: Male
Breed: Manx
Adoption Fee: $189
Location: Bonogin, Gold Coast
Snuggle scope: Super dooper smoohy
Cat scope: Unphased, but honestly is pretty much oblivious to other cats
Dog scope: Unphased by the small dog in his foster home, but again is pretty much oblivious
Child scope: Loves the 13yo niece of the carer. Would recommend older children.
Vetwork: complete
Booster due: 8/11/22
MEDICAL NOTE FROM VET: Innes is quite a special little cat. We suspect he has Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) which has left him with a unusual gait, some incoordination and high stepping. This is permanent but should not progress and is non painful. He also has poor vision. We suspect retinal degeneration which has left him to rely mainly on his other senses to get around. Neither of these conditions are painful however he will need special care so that he does not get himself into trouble. He will take some time to get used to a new environment, but we otherwise believe he will make a wonderful addition to someone's loving house
ABOUT
Oh Innes – where do we begin with this terribly special and adorable little boy… It was pretty clear from the day Innes arrived into care that he wasn’t a regular kitten. Over time of assessing him, and multiple vet visits, our vet has diagnosed him with mild CH, possible mild Manx syndrome, and limited vision – all of which explains most of the quirky traits that he exhibits.
This little guy is quite easily one of the most amazing, sweet and affectionate kittens his carer has ever fostered. However, his list of “quirks” do create some challenges, the main one being the fact that he will not use a litter tray. We believe this is partly due to sensory issues on his feet, the other part being stubbornness. This isn’t his fault, but does require some patience from his carer, and also any potential owner. This will be discussed more at length with anyone who is interested in meeting him.
Innes is also pretty much a “ground dwelling” cat. He is not able to climb like a normal cat. He has learnt to get onto the couch (if the recliner is left with the feet down) and thinks he is pretty clever. Sitting on the chair is one of his favourite spots, as that’s where his human is, and he spends approx. 70% of the day snuggling. Getting down is a little challenging for him as he will not go forwards, only backwards. If he gets “stuck” (which he sometimes does), he will meow for assistance.
Innes needs someone who is home most of the time as he isn’t fond of being left alone and he does need company. He wouldn’t be suitable for young children, but does love the 13yo that visits and showers him with attention.
Innes doesn’t really play with toys, as we don’t think he can really see them. However give him a box (of any size) and he will be amused for hours! He doesn’t really need toys, as we think he sees shadows, so he amuses himself for hours lying on his back trying to catch things in the air that only he can see… He amuses his carer constantly with his antics, and not a day goes by that he doesn’t make the people he meets smile.
This precious little soul certainly needs a special human, but the person that takes the chance on him will have a constant source of joy in their lives.
