About Ghost
Please meet Ghost, this handsome man is blind and deaf but he doesn't let that slow him down. He is the sweetest and most easy going border collie pup, if he is alone for the day he is happy to sleep and play by himself, but if people or another dog are around he'll play until he falls asleep. This floppy boy also loves a cuddle and will amaze everyone he meets with how calm he is and how quickly he settles in new environments.
He's very good at mapping out his surroundings and just bounces off walls when he runs into them. It's very difficult to spook this resilient little pup. Because he can't see or hear, he doesn't bark at or chase anything in or around the yard and doesn't get into the overtired/overstimulated toddler puppy stage.
Ghost has a very active nose and turns into a pinball when he smells his kibble. With training this has already reduced. True to his breed, this pup is ready to work. He has the classic 'tail down' when he is working to sniff out his food in a mat, learned how to use the Kong wobbler in record time (45 seconds), and did not give up on the Kong wobbler until he had extracted his entire cup of food out of it.
Ghost can already 'lure', 'sit' and 'down'. Foster Ma is looking into what else this smart pup can be cued to learn before his special training collar arrives.
Ghost would be best suited to a home with another tolerant dog. Dogs are sometimes confused at the way he interacts with them. Once he gets in the groove of playing with another dog you wouldn't know he's blind and deaf. He misses social cues such as growling if other dogs have had enough playing or are uncomfortable, so would benefit from a companion who could gently lay down the line. He's very good at backing off if other dogs give him a "stop that" nip or a headbutt, and quickly learns which dogs he can and can't play with.
Medical notes
Ghost was born blind and deaf.
