About DJ Diesel
DJBeautiful little ,man DJ is now seeking his forever homeHeeler x 16 kilos Now before you apply please be aware that DJ is a little timid of strangers at first and does take time to warm up and feel comfortable with his hoomans Dj is a very well-behaved, affectionate young boy. He came in to us quite shy and nervous. However, once he knows and trusts you He is extremely happy to see you and appreciates all the time you offer him. He loves showing how much he cares by greeting you with a big smile and Waggy tail in the mornings. We think he is so cute, is such a pleasure to spend time. One of his absolute favorite things is a good pat and scratch above his tail. OBEDIENCE DJ is quiet, and we really cannot fault his behavior. He sits nicely for treats, half the time you do not even have to say âSitâ because he is already doing it in anticipation. He comes when you call him, loves ball play but will need training to bring the balls back to you. He loves running in the yard with us, playing chasey with the kids and the old classic tug of war. We take him out for walks for general outdoor enrichment, they donât need to be long walks, just enough to take in the world. Dj isn't a fan of other dogs coming up to him, so keep him protected when out and about. He enjoys spending time with our submissive dog and kids playing fetch or just hanging around the backyard, any human interaction is great. He will need enrichment and we found that toys, bones, kongs and pigs ears keep him out of trouble. ENRICHMENT Dj has great energy, he rarely barks, he will occasionally get startled by neighboring dogs or birds. He will need stimulation when alone for long periods, such as chewing on bones or toys. If left for too long, he can get bored and create his own entertainment by pulling things around the yard or chewing items he finds. He is extremely quiet when he plays alone and gets super excited with company. If you throw a ball in the yard and take him on daily walks he will thrive.SOCIALISATION DJ has been in care with another dog that is younger and submissive. He has met a few other doggies and isn't quite sure of them, he doesn't like other dogs that are too intrusive or playful. Djs foster family has a dog three older children and two adults. He has shown playful cheeky affection to all of us especially the men and boys and is happy to sit or follow us around curiously. He has had several strangers visit him in the backyard and he has been quite nervous and weary at first but if you let him come to you he warms up rather quickly.. We feel that dj will be best suited to an only dog home OR one with an older submissive female. Also a home with teenagers or no kids.
HYGIENE Dj will need regular baths. He has had some eye irritations and will need this monitored, as it can flare up in the windy weather. Apart from this, he seems to be in perfect health and condition. IDEAL HOME: We feel Dj would thrive in a home with a family that is regularly home and very inclusive. Dj would probably prefer to be an outside dog giving him the freedom to go about his day as he sees fit. His family will need to invest time in him and ensure he has daily enrichment because he needs affection. He will need space as he loves to run so a decent yard is required. Dj is the best kind of canine companion and would love to live with a family that loves cuddles.Adoption CriteriaSecure large yard with shade and shelterA quiet neighborhood for DJ to feel safe from hustle and bustle No children under secondary school age If another dog in residence we seek a submissive and gentle smaller size to help give him confidence
