About Harris
Harris is a 14 month old male kelpie cross (possibly a little labrador in there amongst others!) who loves to play with other dogs. He is affectionate and obedient and is learning to chase and retrieve a ball. He can sit to receive a treat. He has a soft lustrous labrador coat and a very handsome face.
His perfect home would be a house with a secure yard, a house with or without another dog, a house where someone would be home most of the day and an owner active enough to take him for a walk every day. A bonus would be, to be walked in an off leash dog park with plenty of other dogs to play with. He is an inside dog, sleeping and living and loves sharing a lounge with his owner. He needs training to stop jumping up but he tends to sit up on his back legs and begs to be patted.
Harris doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He has a sweet nature and coexists with nature. He doesn't chase birds and doesn't go hunting for lizards/rodents in the undergrowth. He loves to romp and play with other dogs. He is a slow eater, taking just a bit from his bowl and going back later for another nibble. He loves gnawing on bones and we are trying to stop him bringing them back to the lounge to gnaw. He will retrieve a thrown ball, but forgets it as soon as a playmate appears!
He needs a bit of leash training but he is not a severe puller and allows himself to back off after a verbal correction when he does pull. He shows an inclination to jump up on people but he responds to verbal cues and the jump becomes a stand on the back legs beg position.
A big doggy smile from Harris to all applicants :-)
NOTE FROM RESCUE: Due to the time of year, there are limited transport options available - we would encourage adopters to consider this before applying.
