About Ted
Ted is the sweetest, most gentle, character. He is a boofhead but is craving love and approval from his people.
Ted enjoys putting his head in a bucket and running into things. Throwing his bucket, holding his bucket under water and generally beating up buckets. He also enjoys pushing, biting and throwing an old plastic kennel! He is hilarious.
Ted doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in his body, but he does have a Rottie growl that shakes my car when he sees a man in high vis or something else he’s unsure of. He has a pretty awful abuse history and has scars around his neck where a collar was left in while he grew. He doesn’t let this define him though and he is happy and outgoing. He will need people who treat him with kindness and not train him with fear or pain, (as all dogs do). He will do anything for some sausage and a pat.
Ted hates cats and has no experience with kids or small dogs. So no kids, small dogs or cats in his home.
He also hates the vacuum and the mower, they are met with a solid attempt at intimidation and a good biting. We put him in his room when loud things are happening and reassure him that they aren’t a threat to him or his humans. He doesn’t believe us.
He thinks storms are good fun and will charge around the yard, through the pool for a good roll in the water to get extra wet and then continue chasing the thunder, with his tail wagging and a big smile on his face.
Ted is crate trained and has good basic manners. He often sits and refuses to budge in the mornings, until he’s had enough pats and then he will trot off outside happily. He particularly likes putting his front feet on something and nestling in to the humans for a cuddle. He truly is a beautiful boy.
Being a guard breed he is suspicious of new things and people, and is not suited to visiting dog parks. Also he has led a fairly boring life, so sometimes things get very exciting!
Ted is a great example of his breed and the resilience and joy dogs bless us with.
