Meet Doggle - Our Golden Boy, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
How could you not love that face!?
Doggle is absolutely beautiful with kids! He is gentle, patient & very affectionate with his human toddler foster brother, playing together in the yard or cuddling on the lounge watching Tv. This is one of the key attributes I absolutely love about him!
His personality is happy & excitable, affectionate & snuggly, very gentle & a little bit cheeky!
He is a quiet dog at home, happy to spend time alone without barking or getting into mischief but loves being able to spend time hanging out with his humans both indoors and outdoors where possible.
He is fully house trained, so no accidents inside!
Starting to learn how to wait for his food but he just gets so excited. Heās very gentle when taking treats or food from your hands. He has some manners but I think he was allowed to do anything at his previous home so boundaries will need to put in place if you like to have personal space! Like room on your own bed!!
Not tested with cats or other animals but he is reactive to other dogs & humans outside of the house. So a home where he would have some training towards desensitising would be beneficial - especially for walking, going to the vet or spending time in public. He walks well on lead and has been going for a few walks at night where there are less triggers for him to bark but essentially he doesnāt require a lot of exercise, heās happy running around the yard playing fetch.
Doggle has not been socialised with other dogs or the outside world. Making his needs unique in that he would need training with a dog trainer/animal behaviourist to help him desensitise to other dogs & people. He is over 6 years old so this will not be an overnight fix and will take persistence, motivation and assistance of a professional to help.
He struggles in general to go on walks without getting quite worked up/anxious but will completely lose his mind when he sees another dog/human running/walking/riding a bike etc, he barks and barks, launches and tries to attack the other dog (I believe this is fear based from the lack of socialisation, not because he is aggressive)
In saying this until his issue could be sorted out, he is to be in an ONLY DOG home with no other animals. At this point in his life, he is not suited to be taken outside the home at all - not suitable to be in public, taken to a dog park, taken to the beach or taken everywhere with you that will cause him distress due to his lack of socialisation.
He is quite happy and content to stay at home with you/ the family with just exercise in the yard.
I would love to see him go to a family home with kids as heās the perfect candidate however a home with an adult who is home a lot would also be a good match.
