About Gary
Sweet angel Gary is looking for a new best friend.
4-year-old Gary is a happy boy and his favourite things in the world are: peanut butter, 3 pm zoomies, walkies, rubbing his snoot on things, butt scratches, his licky mat, being a couch lizard, squeaky toys, running through tall grass, head pats, being cuddled, and car rides to the beach.
Gary loves his human with his whole heart and likes to keep you in his line of vision always so he can stare lovingly at you. He’s very content sitting with you while you work from home, or on the couch. He’s also very happy to hang out with you and your pals at a picnic, or at a café, or to join you in the car while your run errands. He’s a clever and motivated boy and is having fun learning the basics such as ‘bed’, ‘wait’, and ‘come’.
Gary has made huge progress in foster care but there’s still a few things he’s adjusting to and he would love a kind and patient human to continue to make him feel safe in the world. He’s a shy boy, but growing in confidence every day. It might take him a little while to warm up, but when he does, you’ll be the best of friends.
Initially, Gary found going on walks very overwhelming and would ‘freeze’ a lot. He has grown in confidence and now loves going for walks in the morning and evening. In a new environment, it might take him a little while to adjust again but starting with short walks and lots of time to sniff before slowly expanding his circle will help.
Gary has a great ‘apartment life’ routine and is now completely toilet trained. A home with a garden would be lovely, but if you’re in an apartment and happy to give him a good stretch in the morning and afternoon he’ll be just fine.
Like many rescued greyhounds, Gary has shown some sleep startle behaviours. For the above reasons, he would be best suited to a home with adults and no small children. His new people will be comfortable around larger dogs, and understand Gary just needs a little time and help to feel safe in a new environment. Gary would best suit people who work from home or are around a lot – though he’s definitely fine home alone for a few hours at a time.
If you think you could be Gary’s new best friend, please send us an email at adopt@amazinggreys.com.au and we’ll send you an application form.
Before enquiring please consider:
