About Willow - Mature Female Maremma
Please note our location of BERRIWILLOCK 3531 BEFORE you enquire. It is very frustrating for people to apply to adopt then change their minds due to distance. Willow is a 6yo (est) desexed purebred female Maremma who has been in foster care with us since December 2020. She is a former farm dog and previously had very little contact with humans. She is extremely shy and terrified of loud noises - she prefers to sleep inside all day and night. If outside, she prefers a very well protected sheltered area, away from noise. Outdoor sounds such as machinery/thunder scare her. She is very placid and will walk short distances on a lead. She enjoys pats and especially her food. She is a very very large dog who has a big appetite, so weight management for a new owner is quite important! Maremmas are very aloof and shy...she is not a highly sociable dog and will not approach humans voluntarily, but she enjoys interactions with her human companions, especially if they have food!! She would be ideally suited to a mature age person due to her age, history and lack of socialisation with children. She does not require a farm or large land size, as she is mostly sedentary during the day. Willow does not bark so noise is not an issue. Willow will tolerate other dogs, but not during meal time. She is not a very sociable dog and is very quiet, preferring to sleep away the day.
