About Poppy
APPLICATIONS CLOSED AT PRESENT DUE TO OVERWHELMING RESPONSE - 1.12.21
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive socialisation with other people/dogs/puppies, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
Adoption fee will be advised on receipt of a completed SAFE application.
NAME: Poppy
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound with her mum and siblings.
BREED: Terrier X
BREED Traits: Terriers come in all shapes and sizes and were bred for different reasons but many were for farm work or ratting. Today they are mainly companions. Terriers are generally high energy, very bright and quick to learn but can be stubborn. They have strong personalities and a sense of fun and want to be included in everything you do. Don't take on a terrier unless you really do want a companion.
ASSETS: Easygoing, affectionate, friendly, confident, active, sweet and playful!
ENERGY LEVEL: Poppy is a typical pup at the moment, plays, eats, poops and sleeps! As she grows she will need good daily exercise and as she is part terrier she will probably be high energy with an active brain.
FAVOURITE THINGS: She enjoys playing with any toys she’s given and playing with her siblings. She’s also happy to entertain and explore on her own, and will ask for attention when she requires some cuddles.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She has a sweet, beautiful personality and is a complete delight to be around
WORKING ON: Housetraining. It’s starting to come together but she will need some gentle training and persistent gentle signals to remind her to go outside. Expect some accidents until she gets the hang of things!
IDEAL HOME: Poppy will need –
• a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside and out as she needs
• a decent sized garden where she can run and play, sniff and explore
• a dog- experienced family where someone is home for most of the day especially in the first six months after adoption
• attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence
• continued positive exposure and socialisation
Poppy could live with a dog friendly cat with gentle supervised introductions. She is in foster care with respectful older children and could live with the same in her new home.
If Poppy sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please submit an enquiry and we will be in touch soon
