About Zen
Please meet Zen, an affectionate and well-trained fawn and tan Kelpie/Border Collie/Cattle Dog born on 4 March 2021.
To say Zen is handsome is an understatement. He has the most beautiful pale crystal eyes and glorious coat colour. (For more information on Zen's breed mix, check out the Embark DNA video in this profile.)
A very well socialised youngster, Zen lived at a busy beachside suburb, where he interacted daily with beachgoers and their dogs.
He hasn't met a adult human he doesn't like. He's good with teenagers, but doesn't enjoy being smothered (or mothered) by young children.
Zen is also very dog-friendly. Playing with other dogs is his favourite activity and Kelpies, Border Collies, and Golden Retrievers are his favourite playmates.
He finds cats fascinating but is inclined to be overly attentive. He has lived successfully with a confident cat, but he would likely stress a less assertive feline.
Not your typical kelpie in terms of energy level, Zen is a bit more chilled than most. He grew up in an apartment, so wants to be inside with his family. Although he greatly enjoys daily exercise, once home he's happy to relax and snooze in the company of his favourite human. He's a tactile dog and loves to have his head in your lap or on your foot.
He would make a great companion for a home-based worker or a retiree or a family with teenage children. We're keen for him to have a canine companion, too.
Zen knows all the basic commands (sit, stay, down, wait, leave it, shake, come, kiss etc.) and walks well on leash with harness. Fully toilet-trained, he will ask to go outside by standing at the door.
His adoption fee is $550 and he is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
If you are interested in meeting Zen, please complete the online application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and ensure that you include photos of your yard and fencing.
Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time and there’s another compatible dog for him to play with. Prior experience with working dog breeds will be highly regarded. As always, secure fencing is essential.
Zen lives in Brisbane, Queensland.
