About Xena
**Please keep in mind that Xena is currently being filmed as part of the television program 'The Pet Rescuers' and her adoption will be filmed for this TV show**
Xena is confident, sociable and full of beans! She's ready to find her forever family today.
Xena will be a large breed dog when she is fully grown.
This spunky puppy is after a family who has enough time to spend with her and provide ongoing socialisation, training and playtime.
Xena is living with other dogs in her foster home, and could live with a sociable male dog in her forever home to help teach her all about being a dog.
Xena does mouth quite hard and will need a confident and experienced guardian who can be patient with her and that understand all the hard work it takes to make sure Xena is a resilient adult when she grows up.
Xena came to us and developed Carpal Laxity Syndrome, In Xena's case she appears to have carpal hyperextension (That is where the patient is more 'flat footed' than normal. On initial presentation she also had mild carpal flexion where the wrist bowed forward. Our vets have recommended that Xena be seen by a veterinary physiotherapist by her adopters to create an exercise plan specific to her needs.
In the majority of cases managed well with good surfaces, adequate nutrition (In Xena's case a large breed specific puppy diet) and physio the limbs should correct themselves in 4-8 weeks time.
Xena's adoption price include 5 weeks of Puppy classes with us here at Second Chance Animal Rescue in Craigieburn.
