About Jolene
Look, we won’t beat around the bush… Jolene is a cranky girl, but if you’d like to open your home to a truly stunning big girl with a disability and a good heart, keep reading ❤️
Jolene is one lucky ma’am. She was rescued from the street where she had been struggling for years, suffering abuse and cruelty that has left her disabled, physically and emotionally.
This stunning girl is looking for an experienced, confident cat owner only. She has been in care since September ‘21 and recently moved inside my home to live. Jolene is 100% litter trained and tidy, she’s the perfect indoor kitty.
Due to surviving on the street around awful people, she assumes that she will be hit, kicked or shooed when you approach her, sometimes she swipes out of fear, but she welcomes your loving touch as soon as she feels it and leans in for more, but she is still VERY timid an flighty.
Due to her physical disability, Jolene feels insecure and is defensive around other animals, that being said, she is living with 3 other cats and 4 small dogs. She will swipe them when they get too close, but with her nails kept trimmed, there haven’t been any issues and my animals know to give her distance. If she is adopted to a home with other pets, they must be respectful of her boundaries and perceptive to her cues.
Now for the positives! I can pick her up without issue and hold her in my arms. While she doesn’t enjoy this, it’s indicative of how beautiful she is and how much potential she has. I can also wrap her in a towel and cut her nails without any assistance or issues, no hissing or scratching. Jolene loves the odd neck scratch, when you approach her quietly and reach out, as soon as she feels that scratch, she arches and leans into it. She’s only just starting to realise that human touch can be a wonderful thing ❤️
Jolene is looking for a loving, indoor-only home and a human who will show her nothing but love, patience, kindness and compassion. A human who will be in it for the long haul.
All of our cats come with a 2 week trial period, but we’ve extended Jolene’s trial period to 6 months, so you have time to get to know each other. If for any reason it doesn’t work out, please arrange a time with us to return her for a full refund. And should you no longer be able to care for Jolene at ANY point during her lifetime, we would like you to bring her back to us.
✅FIV/FeLV tested and NEGATIVE
Medical notes
Jolene has a severe limp, stemming from the pelvis/hip, the leg is non weight bearing. Her veterinarian assures us she is not in any pain and I have never observed any indication of discomfort either.
Our veterinarian will be more that happy to discuss her condition with you, I’ve also added photos of her radiographs to the gallery.
The hair loss on her back as seen in her rescue video was likely due to stress-induced overgrooming. This has completely cleared up in care.
Jolene has a clean bill of health and is negative for FIV/FeLV.
