About Katsu
Katsu is a funny, loving, shy, two year old girl who is still learning to trust humans completely. She's desperate to love, but is still jumpy and unsure. She requires a patient family who understand that the reward of Katsu's trust will be well worth the effort. She also requires another friendly animal companion...a calm dog or another cat would be ideal!
Katsu's signature features are her quirky little blep which she does in surprise when you pat her, and her Pokemon noises that sound like you've just encountered a new Pokemon in the grass! Katsu is internet-meme-cat ready, once she gets to know you and trust you.
Rescued off the mean streets, Katsu came in to care pregnant. She had her kittens safely in care, and they have all since been adopted, but Katsu needed a little more time in foster care to prepare her for adoption. She has shown fear-response reactions in the past that render her unsuitable to be around young children at all. In saying so, she will seek her foster carer out for pats, and will accept kisses at times (unless she gets too freaked out)! Her foster carer is absolutely in love with her and wishes she could stay as she is the sweetest, funniest little cat there is!
""Katsu will need a mature home with no children (and any visiting children closely monitored, with Katsu's development prioritised), and her new home must have at least one friendly, confident resident cat as she takes cues from other cats. Katsu does enjoy playing and socialising with other animals once she is familiar with them. Dogs don't worry her unless they chase her, so a calm dog in the home would be suitable for her.""
Door safety is very important with Katsu, as if she does manage to get out it would be anxiety-inducing for her, and very difficult to secure her again. She also tends to hide and doesn't choose to be active, so her new family will keep in mind that her weight can become problematic very quickly. Once she is at a stage of interacting with you, she will need to be exercised daily using a wand toy or something similar to encourage movement. Vet visits are incredibly stressful for Katsu, so it is preferable that she receive home visits for vaccination and health check ups. If she does need to physically go in to the clinic, she will need to be sedated. It is unclear whether or not this will change, but at this point in time this is non-negotiable. Once she is settled in a home she adores the safety and security of her space, and will be very agitated and upset if she finds herself removed from it.
Though she has a few conditional needs, Katsu is a brilliant cat who will bring so much joy to the right home. Is there a Katsu shaped space in your heart and home just waiting to be filled?
Katsu is a healthy raw fed cat who has been wormed, flea treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped (microchip #953010004566624, source #RE101165). She is available for adoption right now!
