About Sharky - 10 year old male cat
This stunning older gentleman is Sharky.
Sharky was brought into a vet clinic to be put down as his old owners no longer wished to look after him. Thank goodness one of the nurses saw the special little guy that Sharky was and convinced them to sign him over instead. Sharky has been living with her for the last few months and getting reaccustomed to family life while his vet-nurse friend tried to find him a new home. Sharky cleverly suggested that she contact DRN to show him off a bit too. What a clever boy!
Sharky is available as an assisted adoption, which means he will stay with his current owner until a suitable application comes in. When that happens, all adoption procedures will be between Sharky's owner and his potential new family.
Sharky is a very affectionate, yet very independent cat. He loves pats, scratches, and being close to you! He is super sociable, extremely friendly, and loves a chat. He will do anything for a pat, and has become his foster-carer’s shadow... never far behind! He is independent in the sense that he is happy doing his own thing. He is not at all “needy”. His owners work a lot and are not home and he sleeps in his favourite spot, right through day. Even at night, he doesn't become restless or play-up - he always puts himself to sleep in the same spot every night. He even plays with his toys on his own, and loves hanging out in his very own cat-tower. He is a very relaxed, cruisey guy!
However, it would be important to note, as much as he LOVES a person’s company, he does not like to be picked up/held/cuddled as this makes him uncomfortable. He does not sleep in his human's bed or sit on their lap – but he is always close-by despite this. His new owner will have to accept he is not a lap cat.. but he is amazing company (and never far away) none-the-less!
Sharky loves a chat! He is vocal when you show him attention or around meal times (but he never ever cries - just little chirps when you’re nearby!) and you can hear him purring a mile away. He is also very smart and very responsive. He ALWAYS responds to a "kissy noise" - he'll come running from wherever he is. He is super clever, always uses his litter tray, and never makes a mess.
All-in-all, Sharky is a beautiful, super low-maintenance cat and as much as his owner wants to keep him, she knows he deserves better! He deserves a beautiful forever home, where he can do his own thing and have good company all throughout his golden years.
Most important Sharky details:
- He is 10, but he is in perfect health, and has many many years ahead of him. Some cats live to be 20 years old! Sharky doesn’t look a day over 2 ;)
- He is probably best as an only pet… but might do OK with another cat or dog if introduced properly.
- He is best in a home with no children, as he likes his own space. He is best suited to a small family (1-2 adults).
- He must be indoor only (… but with access to a cat run if you like!).
- He needs a family that will respect his space.
Sharky is microchipped, vaccinated and desexed, and has been treated for fleas and worms. If you would like to give this beautiful old man the retirement he deserves, please fill out an application form here: https://form.jotform.co/93127959159875 or email catsandkittensdrn@gmail.com
