About Texas STA008721
Texas came to us from a colony of cats. He was not use to humans, and certainly did not trust us. Shelter life was not for him, so we put him in foster. With long term foster he is learning to trust, and Texas is now enjoying playing with his foster mum. Texas is still gaining his trust of humans, but we feel it’s his time to go that final step with his forever home.
He is quite playful, and catch and stealing the toys is definitely high on his agenda. Food is a big winner, and will sit for treats from your hand, but sometimes your fingers might get in the road.
He is not an aggressive cat, but learning to play with a human rather than a cat, is something he is still learning. He is still not overly fond of being picked up, but if he does want a cuddle, he will smooch your legs, and a quick big purring cuddle is what you will get.
Texas will do well in a quite home, with a confident feline friend, and has lived comfortably with a dog. If you are happy to have a companion, who will keep you entertained, but will take time to adjust, Texas is a beautiful boy. He is definitely worth the time and effort.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
