About Reed
Reed is such a stunning chocolate red colour with crazy eyes and the goofiest personality.
Somebody must have forgot to tell him he has an injury to his front right leg because he runs like the wind, stalks like a kelpie and hops like a bunny!!
If he wants to come inside he sits at door and uses his foot to knock. Reed will rest/ sleep in a crate during the day and at night he can go 8 hours in a crate without accidents. He has permanent access outside for toileting and hasn't had any accidents.
He's learning basic training currently but as an energetic pupster, still needs some work. If you ask him to come, Reed thinks its a game and if you walk away, he is following you until you turn and reach for him.
Reed shows confidence with most people and dogs although he doesn't always listen when the old girls tell him off. He will benefit greatly from ongoing socialisation, training & exposure in and outside of the home.
As an energetic and intelligent Kelpie, he will need a home that can engage him mentally & physically and supply enough stimulation in both areas to ensure his ongoing happiness. His training should come along in leaps and bounds with little effort.
Reed has learnt that when we stand/sit still and he is on a lead, to rest and not run around like a loon. He enjoys playing with various toys by himself, so can occupy himself during down time.
Reed travels well in a crate in the car and lays down until he knows it time to get out. He enjoys outings and is happy to be bathed.
He adores cuddles on the lounge and will require a home with another playful, friendly dog at home and or someone home most days. You will need to be active to take on a Kelpie, despite he will only have 3 legs and we will preference homes with working breed experience and or dog sport experience.
Reed is an amazing boy that deserves an amazing home, fill in the dog adoption enquiry form on our Fetching Dogs website to register your interest.
Medical notes
Reed came to us with an injured front leg and the nerves have not repaired themselves, so the limb is essentially useless and he can injure it further without knowing as he feels nothing.
We have decided to amputate the leg soon and this will be at our expense.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
