About Vadar
Vadar is a big boy with lots of love to give for the right family. He is a German Shepherd cross Kelpie, he's nearly six years old.
Vadar is a very social guy and enjoys the company of humans of any age. He has displayed a gentle, quiet, nature with both elderly parents and young children. However, his social nature does not extend to cats or other dogs.
He enjoys the social side of walking and is good on the lead, he is happy to walk beside and doesn't pull on the lead. The only problem that arises is when he comes head to head with other dogs on leads, but we have started training him to turn and take his focus away from the other dog. Vadar doesn't have a huge amount of stamina, but we do walk him every night for the social interaction.
Being a large dog, you might expect Vadar to be a big eater, but this is not the case. He has two small meals a day and always saves himself something to graze on during the day. As he is not particularly food orientated, he is hard to train with food, so we use lots of praise and pats for following instructions and being obedient, both of which he is good at.
Vador has a warm and loving personality, he is not by any means active and is quite happy sitting at our feet while we garden or read outside. He sleeps inside or outside, but again likes a bit of a cuddle and pat before bed.
Ideally, Vadar will go to a home with no other pets, where he can be nurtured by his humans and not have to share them. We both work all day and he has not displayed any signs of boredom or naughtiness that can be associated with being home alone, however we think he would thrive in a home where there was someone mostly home with him
