About Venus
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR VENUS
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM

Hi! I'm Venus and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• It appears I have never interacted with another dog before coming into the shelter so I can be unsure of how to behave around and with them! I will require a lot of positive socialisations with other dogs so that my behaviour improves and not deteriorates towards them..
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING. It's ESSENTIAL I receive training in all aspects of my life so I can be the best dog I can be when I'm older.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• No other dogs - I have not socialized with other dogs much in my life and need to learn how to socialize appropriately before being able to live with another dog.
NO CATS
My best features:
• Highly food motivated
• I LOVE toys, playing fetch and a game of tug-o-war
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• I walk well on lead for a young doggo but having daily walks should help me improve my lead skills
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• I do walk quite well on the lead once settled, however I can pull if something interests me and can be quite skittish if startled so walking in a harness is recommended
• I appear to have issues with resource guarding when it comes to high value foods. I will need some training to help fix and to get rid of this behaviour. With commitment and time, we will be able to work on this together.
NOTE: You are unable to meet Venus until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Venus in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
