About Martie
Martie is young, cheeky and energetic, bursts of energy followed by hours of sleep and wakes again for more walks and play - on repeat. Martie is curious and will require lots of stimulation so a chest of toys, a yard and a playmate would be advantageous to give yourself a break. She is a social girl, loves attention and loves her cuddles although she thinks she is lap dog. Be warned, extend a pat and she will roll over and demand ongoing tummy rubs. She also has a unique way of cuddling where she tries to wrap her legs around you as if they were human arms.
This girl has taken to life in a bustling inner suburb, she walks well on the lead, is happy to say hello to all in the community whether it be human, child or canine. Birds never stick around long enough for her to get to say hello but that could be her over eager approach.
Martie is very endearing, she has a cute short snout and hug-me eyes.
No cat or small dog applications please.
No children under ten.
No full time workers unless working from home or there is another dog
We only consider applications who compete our Gumtree Greys online application.
When this is done we can make contact to discuss adopting a greyhound and potential suitable greys currently in foster care.
Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
