About Marco
Marco loves people and isn’t fussy about who it is, will happily accept a pat and a cuddle from anyone and everyone willing to oblige. He befriends everyone on his walks and is a bit of a social butterfly. He loves nothing more than cuddling up on the couch with his humans or laying at their feet while they work.
Marco loves his two walks a day and then spends the rest of the day lazing around on the couch. He can be a bit cheeky and loves a good snooze on your bed, so if your bed is out of bounds, you will need to keep your door closed. He becomes an immovable object, once he is settled somewhere- good luck moving him. When his foster carers try to move him he goes completely limp with his head lolling about, which is quite endearing and hilarious to watch but no help gettign him off.
Marco takes a very keen interest in other dogs. Marco’s eyes light up when he sees another dog, especially while they’re playing - which he longs to join in on. With a wagging tail and perked up ears Marco keenly sniffs any dog who comes near him- providing they are polite. He would suit being an only dog but judging on the fascination he takes with other dogs on his walk he might really love a canine companion.
Due to lockdown, Marco has not been left alone for very long periods of time. New parents will need to work on building his confidence with this.
Marco is easygoing, endearing, and becomes a part of the furniture from the moment he walks in the door.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
