About Little Bear
Little Bear, an adorable, affectionate and loving 4yo Jack Russell Terrier x English Staffy x Rottweiler looking for his forever home.Little Bear is around 18 kilos so just a little fella in size. Bear is a beautiful natured, sweet and cheeky boy that loves snuggles on the couch, plenty of attention and lots of walks. Bear is an intelligent boy who will sit, wait and is very gentle. He is mostly obedient, however can have selective hearing at times. His toilet training also needs a little work It's a little hit and miss
Bear doesnât really like being left outside, he much prefers to be inside with his people and would be best suited to a family or person that can have him inside most of the time, however can be left outside for periods of time but he does have a little tantrum....
During the day, you will find Bear either laying around or sleeping somewhere close by. Bear loves belly & chin rubs and if you stop patting him before he is ready, he will let you know heâs not finished yet with a gentle tap of his paw or a brush of his face up against you.
Eating:
Bear is currently being fed around 150-170 grams of Ivory Coat Complete Balanced Nutrition dry food, both morning and night. We have found that wet food so far has upset his stomach and he is quite happy to eat the dry on its own. He can be a little shy at times and prefer not to eat his food in front of you. His favourite treats are Schmackos strapz.
Sleeping:
When Bear first came into care, he was most comfortable sleeping in his crate, after a few days he felt more settled and was happy to sleep in his foster familyâs bedroom in his doggy bed. Bear is a serial snorer! ??
Exercise/toys:
Bear isnât overly interested in toys however on occasion you may find him chewing on a tennis ball and having a little play by himself. He absolutely loves going for walks and would probably really enjoy going for runs if given the chance. Bear is stronger than he looks on the lead and will sniff out and pee on anything and everything that he can along the way.
Children:
Bear has spent time with young teenagers and was very affectionate. It's worth mentioning that like most dogs, when very excited or around new people he does jump up a little.
Dogs/Cats:
Bear has not been tested with cats so we have no idea how that would go
Bear is a little hard to work out when it comes to interactions with other dogs, He has spent time with a submissive female with no issues both on and off lead but when walking he can be quite reactive to other dogs and gets very excited when he sees them and jumps and barks
We did have him in a foster home with another dog and found him very jealous of the other dog so definitely needs to be an only dog. His new home must be willing to spend time with him working on his social skills with some other dogs. He seems to be very selective on weho he likes and who he doesnt lol !
Travel:
Bear travels really well in the car, he is happy to lay down and relax, occasionally looking out the window to see where he is and check out his surroundings.
