About Lucy
Fall in love with the very lovely Lucy, this slender, elegant girl will melt you with her gorgeous brown eyes.
Lucy has settled into pet life quickly and is enjoying learning the rules of being the best dog. She knows what she likes and that includes walks, food and cuddles. Lucy is a people person and much more interested in the humans in the house than her foster brother, a rather too busy Red Heeler. Lucy’s very keen on human pats and loves your attention - when she’s happy she will show you by rolling on her back. Lucy’s still learning to be on her own so a bit of separation training will likely be needed.
A morning person – she’s got the most energy before her morning walk and is very bouncy, but after a decent walk she is more than happy to sleep all day. She is still learning about fellow canines and is very interested in all the other dogs in the park, loves watching them play ball and is often desperate to join in.
Lucy is gorgeous, affectionate, curious, occasionally stubborn and often a little goofy. She will brighten anyone’s day. If Lucy had her way, she would choose to be an only dog, she wants all the human attention on her.
No cat or small dog applications please.

No full time workers unless working from home or there is another dog.
We only consider applications who compete our Gumtree Greys online application.
When this is done we can make contact to discuss adopting a greyhound and potential suitable greys currently in foster care.
Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
