About Bilbo Baggins
*Bilbo needs an adult only, no other animal home please*
Bilbo is looking for a partner to go on an adventure with! Could it be with you?
Ultimately, Bilbo will need someone who treats him like a dog. He's not small but he's not medium and has all the fiery terrier qualities and goofball behaviours.
Bilbo came from a pound after being found wandering a property on his own.
He has come a long way but he's learning all about being part of a real family.
It's best for Bilbo to have his space, and for his new guardians to ask for consent when handling. Our behaviour trainer will be able to show you this in person.
Bilbo can be less tolerant of handling when he doesn't know you or with people who are unable to read his body language. He doesn't like to be touched on his lower back where his muscles get a bit tighter. He has some physio stretches that he's learning to help with this.
Bilbo needs an active lifestyle with plenty of play time. He's great on lead but is still working on ignoring other dogs instead of telling them to go away. If Bilbo trusts that his person won't put him in the position of being around dogs then his need to bark stops and will ignore instead. Therefore his new family should avoid walking Bilbo in highly dog populated areas.
Bilbo will be best in a home without any other animals this includes dogs and cats. This is non-negotiable.
Bilbo is the biggest goofball and loves to climb, run, play and learn using reward based training. He's going to be an amazing companion for the right person.
Please apply today and make sure to include all information necessary for our adoptions team to get back to you.
**Application Process**
When on the Pet Rescue profile push the "enquire about this pet" button. Follow the prompts to "send enquiry now" and in the message section please place information about the home you can provide. Include current/past pets and their breed, children including ages that live with you or visit, and any other information relevant to training/exercise/energy requirements. The information you provide helps us match the dog you've applied for to the most suitable home. We use this information in lieu of an application form. We do not take applications for dogs over the phone. We aim to reply to all applications within 5 business days. All of our dog meet and greets occur at the adoption centre in Craigieburn. The majority of our dogs are in a foster home not at the shelter so you need to apply via the website to meet them. Thank you.
