Trae is a highly affectionate Bull Arab mix, one year old dog who although timid at first, will grow to be your shadow after only a few days of love and gentle coaxing. Treats help of course! Read on to learn all the information you need to know about this gem of a pooch:
Purfectā¦no⦠really. At first Trae feared his foster carer. But after two days of gentle coaxing with treats and food, he began to trust her and venture inside (the trick with a scared dog is to get down on all fours to their level and avoid eye contact). Now he follows her everywhere, so she has a bed in virtually every room in the house. Please be aware that if you choose to adopt Trae, a few days may pass before he ventures inside, and stops being scared. Patience for a few days is required.
No barking issues ā¦now thatās worth barking about!
Trae has not been tested on young kids, but his foster carer suspects he will be fine. He is totally ok with most small dogs and will interact and play but supervision is required. A pooch playmate would be wonderful for Trae as he has a lot of fun. But if you are a one dog owner thatās ok if you dedicate time to play with him each day. He loves balls and will fetch so a medium to large yard is necessary for Trae. He loves a big red rubber dog bone and any large toy. Treat toys are his favorite! His foster carer is sure he would love the beach and leash free parks. Preferably a strong owner as he is a sturdy 25 plus kg is ideal.
Before bed Trae has a toilet stop, then sleeps happily in a dog pen with his fresh water, with no messes in the morning to clear up. He may whine a tiny amount after you leave him but a firm ānoā and thatās the end of it. ideally his new owner will have a doggy door but if not, he is toilet trained so keep the door to outside readily open.
Walks ā Trae likes a 30-minute minimum walk per day. He doesnāt pull too much although a halti may help improve his walking. On walks, he is timid of most people, push bikes and dogsā¦but perhaps in time this may improve. Heās fine if that dog hangs around for a while, then slowly approaches him. But a dog that runs up to himā¦he will be scared and jerk away, so a strong hand is needed. He sits before crossing a road on command.
We would love to see Trae find a home where he is most definitely allowed to snuggle with or without you on the furniture. He will whine a little if you leave him outside, but he doesnāt pound on the door to be let in so is well behaved. If he has a doggy door and access to inside, he will be fine if you leave to go shopping. And donāt forget to shake his handā¦a simple āshakeā command and heās happy to greet you.
Do you have what it takes to provide Trae with his perfect home?
