About Errol
Errol is a scruffy, handsome older gentleman, who is 7yo and 9mths. He is chipped as a wolfhound x, and is medium-large in size. Around 30kg or so. Errol is a beautiful boy who is lover of all dogs and people.
He is a soft gentle who loves a scratch. He is also independent is happy to lay by your side and watch tv with you.
Errol is a good boy; he does not jump or take what is not his (so quite unlike a wolfhound, really). He loves to play ball and is learning to bring it back, and loves a car ride. He is food-oriented which helps with training.
Errol is dog social and plays well with other dogs, but can be nervous in new situations. He is currently living with about 10 other host and foster dogs from small-medium to giant, and gets on with all after being a bit intimidated for the first day or two. So he could happily share his home with another friendly dog, or be a much-loved only pet.
He is obedient and will take directions without question. Though he does not like to be grabbed or pulled by the collar, and for that reason he will require a household with no children under 10 years, who may forget this.
Errol will require secure fencing and gates 5ft or higher. Not because he is an escape artist - he isn't - but because in his previous life before he came into the pound he was allowed to roam the neighbourhood. So he ended up with a temporary council order ending March 2022 for being "habitually at large" - unfortunately those orders go on the dog not the owner at fault. So if he were to be picked up by the council before March 2022 the fine would be higher than normal. Even saying all that he has no desire to leave our property and we have only farm fencing. Once he is settled and knows he is loved and wanted he will be right by your side we’re ever you are. He is the perfect companion and loyal friend.
He does find the horses behind the fence exciting, and will go searching for mice in the shed (though not find them). So he might find cats, pocket pets and the like a bit too interesting.
* No children under 10 y.o.
* No cats, pocket pets, chickens or livestock.
* Could be only dog or live with another dog.
* Not suitable for an apartment.
* Renters need a pet agreement in place before applying.
* Needs secure 5ft fences.
Medical notes
Healthy senior boy.
Adoption details
In the ENQUIRY SECTION please explain in LENGTH some basics about yourself/ your life/ your household and what type of life you can provide for one of our rescue animals.
If successful, you would be contacted by phone, where we will talk about your enquiry and potentially organise a meet and greet between you/ your dogs/ your family and the potential candidate
From there, you can either take your animal with you if the meet and greet was successful and their vet work has been completed- or if the vet work hasn't been completed, you must wait until it's finished before taking your new friend home which will be organised between yourself and the foster carer.
Every animal has a 2 week trial period.
