About Thunder
Thunder needs a home without other animals, with someone happy to continue his behaviour medication that relieves his anxiety. Please read the profile below carefully as only suitable applicants will be contacted.
While my name might sound a little dramatic, I promise you, I'm far from it; it's to do with my rather dark and dashing colouring. My foster mum says I'm more like an exotic version of Mr. Darcy; dashing and mysterious with brilliant jasper eyes, impeccable manners and a gentlemanly demeanor. Four years ago, I was a street dog in Vanuatu and was rescued with another dog, and brought over to start a new life here in Australia.
I love nothing more than a great big snooze next to my special human - I am the perfect work-from-home buddy. So my ideal environment will be one where my humans are home.
I find dogs a bit overwhelming (especially if I'm on lead and they aren't), so my new family will need to be clever enough to know when to turn me around to avoid them, and to continue my training. I would also prefer to be an only dog in my new home and to be walked in areas where there aren't many dogs. Please no dog parks.
I don't like surprises or loud noises or dogs barking at me from behind neighbourhood fences, but if you talk calmly to me in a happy voice to reassure me that other dogs are all talk and that you have a treat for me, then I'll happily listen to you and keep on walking. I will need my new human to look after me and comfort me during those times, removing me from scary situations like that.
My anti-anxiety medication helps with this too, so my new family will need to remember to give this medication to me each day with my food; I will also be gentle with you when you administer my tablets or brush my teeth. My foster mum has a nice and quiet home with soft music, tealight candles and lavender oil, so this also helps me to relax even more, though I'm pretty relaxed by nature anyway, it's just when I get a fright that I need help to remember that everything's okay and that I'm safe.
I have a few quirks which my foster mum says makes me even more adorable and amusing. For instance, I like putting my left paw into my water bowl while I'm drinking out of it; I love playing fetch....as long as YOU do the fetching for me; and I do proud matador foot stomps shortly after visiting the men's room on nature strips (that's right, I won't soil your yard and will hold, until you take me for a walk). My human, fresh roast chicken, boiled eggs, sardines, my squeaky red ball, chest rubs/scratches and head/paw massages are my absolute favourite things in the world.
