About Honey
Honey is a female Golden Retriever raised and trained in the Assistance Dogs Australia program. She is 15 months old, she is desexed and is looking for her forever home!
Honey is a lovable and affectionate girl. She is very playful, energetic, goofy and happy. Honey enjoys training and being challenged so proper mental stimulation will further help her learn and maintain the cues that she has learnt so far. Her behaviour is still very puppy-like.
Although Honey has shown some great qualities during her time in the Assistance Dogs Australia training program, we have decided that she is not suitable to be placed as an Assistance Dog. Honey struggles to maintain her focus during training and can be easily distracted by different sights and sounds. She has also displayed some signs of anxiety whilst out in public. Honey can also be distracted by other dogs whilst out and about. The combination of these factors make her unsuitable to be placed as a working assistance dog.
All Assistance Dogs are accustomed to spending most of their time with humans so Honey’s ideal person or family would spend a lot of time at home with her. She would benefit from going to someone that leads an active lifestyle and that also has dog experience.
Honey is social with other dogs. If there is another dog in the home she goes to, we would like Honey to meet them. Honey needs to be walked daily and would love to have a yard to play in.
Honey is a healthy young dog. Vaccinations and parasite protection have been kept up to date. If you think Honey could be the right dog for you or you have any further questions, please email Mel at mwatson@assistancedogs.org.au so that I can pass on an application form for you to complete.
