About Lulu
PROFILE AND NEEDS IN THE HOME
Lulu is a very active, adventurous, and extremely loving fox terrier. Lulu is filled with fantastic qualities and will steal your heart in no time! Whatever you may be doing she will want to be by your side and involved. She loves walks, runs (she is working on her leash skills for running next to the owner), cuddles, car trips, socializing with other dogs, swimming and food. She loves to play with other dogs and makes frequent visits to the dog parks with her foster carers where she has made lots of furry friends. She plays off leash at the dog park and is doing very well with her recall! Lulu can get growly with treats/food when there is another dog nearby but she does take correction on this well so it is something she can improve on. She is a typical fox terrier and loves to follow scents, chase lizards, birds and mice. She has not been tested in a house with a cat yet but she does not take much notice of cats outdoors while on walks. She is very good with children but in the initial excitement so older children would be best suited (above age 8). The best thing about Lulu is she compliments all that energy by being a very obedient and responsive dog. She will do very well with more training as she is keen to please and very intelligent. On occasion, like all dogs, Lulu may come across a dog that she does not like- in this situation she will usually growl and needs an owner who will pick up on this signal and remove her from the situation (she calms very quickly and returns to her normal playful self when this situation is correctly handled).
Lulu definitely needs an active household with a family who are home more often than not and are willing to invest time into training her and making her reach her full potential. She is an extremely smart dog but will require someone who will provide stimulation for her so that she does not become bored. Lulu needs someone who either works from home (not only due to Covid- but all the time), or someone who is home for periods during the day. She can become very attached to being with her owner and does not love being left alone for longer periods of time- however, if she is well walked and tired she will sleep until you return. She requires a minimum of 2 walks per day and these also need to involve play with other dogs. She may look small but she loves to play with bigger dogs and we have found this play allows her to get some of her large store of energy out. Lulu would enjoy another dog (preferably a larger dog) as a companion in her home but this is not essential. At home, she is a very chilled-out, quiet (not vocal) dog who will happily sleep nearby (or on your lap) while you work. She is well behaved indoors, doesn’t chew things and is house trained. Lulu would be best suited to a home with a yard to explore and play in (she is currently in an apartment but requires some additional walks each day due to this). She enjoys having a few cozy spots to curl up, especially where she can have her eyes on her owners.
Overall Lulu is an incredible dog. She has a real sweet nature and will be by your side at all times if you allow her! She is looking for a very loving new family, who have the time and are committed to work with her and do some training. Exercise for Lulu is essential so she will need an owner who enjoys being outdoors, exercising and is able to take Lulu on adventures.
MAKE SURE you include as much detail as possible on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your location, contact number, family members, your other dog if applicable, lifestyle, exercise and mental stimulation you will provide, how often the Lulu would be alone, where she will have access in the home, where they she would stay if you went away and could not take her with you, ability to cover vet expenses etc
