About Frank Melbourne
Frank has settled into foster care very well. He loves being an inner city grey, enjoying the hustle and bustle. He is great with crowds and likes to mix with anyone he can meet whether it’s at a market of cafe. We reckon he’d love the pub. He adores getting attention and pats from new friends.
At home Frank has mastered the stairs and is toilet trained. He is happy to wait for his walks to do the business. He understands the house rules and waits to be invited onto the couch once his blanket is spread out.
Frank enjoys his play at home to entertain himself as well as his foster carers. He loves when you puff on his snoot and encourage his zoomies. Frank loves chew toys too. He loves his chilled time too. There is nothing better than snuggling on the couch with you to do some binge TV.
Frank is an enthusiastic walker. He has a bit more endurance than your average grey so will do well with an adopter that wants to clock up the steps. His walking has recently been curtailed as he has had some grit removed from a foot pad. He is expected to have a full recovery.
On his walks, Frank is still learning about meeting strange dogs that don’t look like him. We feel he will be more comfortable meeting the wide variety of dogs with some patience and confidence of his new family.
Being a typical lockdown dog, Frank hasn’t had a lot on time home alone. There has been a little anxiety when left home alone but will need some patience and understanding in a new home if he is left alone for more than a couple of hours. He would be happy to share the home with another suitable medium or large dog if he is to be left home alone more than a couple of hours.
Frank is your best mate, pleased to be your trusted confidant and snuggle-buddy.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
