About Sooty
Sooty’s personality:
Sooty is a 9-year-old Chinese Crested Powder Puff - he is happy, outgoing, loving and a sweet natured boy. All he wants is to be loved and to love you in return. He enjoys being held and cuddled, or just sitting on your lap and watching the world go by. Sooty is playful and enjoys walks when he has other K9 company.
Sooty’s ideal forever home:
This sweet gentleman will be suited to a home where he will have as much human company as possible. While he is well behaved when left alone, he is much happier to be with his people. And this is what he is used to. Sooty would do well with either a retired person/couple or a family with older children. Anyone who works long hours or is often away from the home would not be suitable for Sooty. He would do fine as an only dog or with other dogs of a similar size or with a calm nature. Anyone interested in adopting Sooty will need to be prepared to do regular grooming, as his coat will grow long. Sooty is a senior dog so he will need someone capable of dealing with any issues that arise with a dog in this stage of its life.
Sooty’s story:
Sooty has been in the same home his entire life. He was very much loved by his human parents. His mum passed away a few years ago now and Sooty’s dad is sadly no longer able to continue to care for him due to his own poor health.
More about Sooty:
The Chinese Crested breed does not do well being separated from their people for long. Prolonged periods of time can cause anxiety in the dog and Sooty is no exception. He really would like to be with you as much as possible.
He is a sensitive boy who loves people and affection. Sooty had not had a lot of contact with other dogs prior to coming into our care but now enjoys playing and going for walks. He is still more of a people doggy but definitely enjoys the company of other doggies too!
As already mentioned, Sooty will require grooming on an ongoing basis, as his coat will continue to grow. Sooty is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for heartworm, ticks, intestinal worms and fleas.
Medical notes
Sooty’s medical history:
Sooty is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and treated for heartworm, fleas, ticks and intestinal worms. He recently had dental surgery where we removed one canine that was causing him quite a bit of grief and also repaired a slab fracture of one of his molars. As with all companion animals, Sooty will require regular 6 monthly dental checks to ensure that his teeth remain in tip top shape. He also had a small cyst located under his eye but this has been drained and has not yet returned or caused any issue for concern. Overall, Sooty is in great condition for a mature doggy and is still full of life and energy.
