About Wheatley
Wheatley is a very special little man who is friendly, confident and so much fun to be around. He requires an owner who is patient and willing to work with him on any challenges he may face because of his medical condition. He has been diagnosed with likely Congenital Nystagmus, a condition of constant movement of his eyes that is likely to have been present from birth. He needs an owner who is home more often than not as he will need ongoing training and possibly his medical condition may manifest itself in further medical needs eg vision problems. Wheatley is going to grow into a big dog so training for basic manners and loose lead walking are a must. Consider enrolling him in 'School for Dogs'. Being a pup, Wheatley can get quite bored if left alone for long periods of time. He does not show signs of separation anxiety but may become destructive if left alone with no stimulation. He loves soft squeaky toys and is very food motivated, so leaving him with plenty of things to chew, eat and play with, is be a must. Puzzle toys would be great for this boy to keep his mind active. Wheatley must be allowed indoors as part of the family. As with most pups he can be very jumpy and a little mouthy when overstimulated. This is also the case with his Stigmatism. If things move too quickly, and he can't focus properly, he will become quite aroused and mouthy. A calm, mature family would be great for him. Going home with a mature doggy friend, who will teach him how to be a calm dog and how to interact respectfully with people, would also be great for him. Wheatley would like to meet the whole family, dog included, at time of adoption.
