About Olive
Olive is an anagram for ""I love"". Much as her name suggests, all Olive wants to do is to love you and be loved in return. That might take the shape of playing with you, getting a good back scratch or just sitting by your feet. She is a people dog and just wants to be near you. She can be left outside with other dogs for company but would much rather be right by your side. She is still going through a bit of a puppy play stage and is full of beans. You can always tell when she is happy as she does a little dance and spins in circles :) She's still very much a puppy and is also a high energy little dog, like her breed background of part Jack Russell. Two good walks a day will be important for her to wear off that Jack Russell working dog energy. She loves to run around the yard with doggy toys, too, tossing them in the air. She's one of those ""play growlers"" where she has a low, soft growl when she plays.
Her foster carer says she's a good little dog, a little stubborn, but a good dog - learning the rules of her foster home and can sit and wait for food already. She also won't rush inside if the back door is open. She's learning not to jump up and isn't keen on the lead just yet so her carer is working with her on those things. In the past, when Olive's owner couldn't exercise her, she escaped out the front door when someone was going out. She was hit by a car that way, and it's how she lost the sight in her eye. So ongoing exercise, training, and a well fenced front yard will be important for Olive. We think that she won't rush out once she recognises that she'll be having two regular walks every single day. She is also learning not to bark at the other dogs in her foster home to try to get them to play with her. She hasn't spent a lot of time with other dogs, so her foster home with two other dogs, is perfect for her.
She manages well with one eye and doesn't have any pain. But because she's blind on one side, she can startle with movement on that side if caught unawares, so we don't recommend her being rehomed with children.
