Benjamin ~ 6.5yr Old Shih Tzu X (On Trial 6/11/21)

Meet Benjamin. He is a scruffy and playful 6.5 year old Maltese Shih Tzu X who didn’t have an exciting start to life. He is desperately looking for human playmates to help him make up for lost time. He is looking forward to playing with his special young humans and going out with a family who will include him in their adventures.

He is very nervous of other dogs and hates cats. We can’t be sure about pocket pets. Hopefully there is family out there looking for a single fur kid to join them. Benjamin’s ideal family could multi-generational – he is more than happy to share himself around and adapts his behaviours well to suit his human of the moment.

Benjamin does not seem too worried about loud noises and storms. On that score, he fits in anywhere and just likes to be wherever his humans are. He needs to be able to sleep inside with his people and would prefer a family who aren’t too precious about their lounge. At night time, that’s his favourite place – watching TV while getting a good massage. Benjamin gives great cuddles too.

He is house trained, and shouldn’t have any accidents once he knows he can get outside when he needs to go. His coat is very low shedding. His fur is a bit unruly, but that adds to the cuteness. He does require regular trims to keep looking good. He hates getting the hair on his feet trimmed though.

He loves chicken, but sadly, Benjamin has shown an allergy! And FYI, nearly all commercial dog foods (including kibble) have chicken in them. So this may present a real headache for the food supplier in any family. He happily eats lamb, beef and turkey though. If it is too hard to consider preparing/cooking his meals, please do not apply for Benjamin.

Benjamin’s needs:

- No Chicken and this means almost no commercial food as well.
- Someone who can cook/prepare his meals. He may need vitamin supplements also.
- Allowed inside most of the time and allowed to sleep inside, close to family members.
- Prefer a family where someone is likely to be home most of the time.
- At least one special younger someone to play with. Gentle and kind children aged from 8 up would be ideal. He may be very wary of unpredictable toddlers.
- Some squeaky fluffy toys to throw around.
- A secure yard with no holes or gaps, and at least 5ft to ensure he is safe.
- Occasional brushing of his coat and regular trips to the beauty salon.

Benjamin is in foster care in Rankin Park, NSW (suburb of Newcastle NSW). Due to the current pandemic and lockdown, he is not available interstate.

Benjamin's adoption fee is $600, and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and lifetime registered.
