About Rufus *Special Needs*
Rufus, once an athletic and energetic dachshund, has stoically and patiently endured a major IVDD incident. He has adapted remarkably well to his new situation - the life of a wheelie boy. Rufus loves the independence of zooming about on his wheels but is equally content observing the activities of his family while quietly laying on his mat. His beautiful temperament has not been tarnished by having a disability. Rufus remains loving, affectionate, and snuggly. He adores his family and is eager to be included on outings. And If there are untoward noises outside or suspicious people passing by, Rufus will bravely defend his property and family.
Medical notes
The caregiver(s) must be nurturing and not fussed with dealing with occasional urinary incontinence and bowel incontinence mishaps. They should have knowledge of IVDD or be motivated to learn about this condition;
The new ‘family’ must offer Rufus an indoor lifestyle with easy, step-less access to an outdoor area that is wheelie-friendly. He should have interesting days, with regular walks and outings.
