About Jessie
Jessie loves her walks. She is currently enjoying three 30 minute walks each day as she is in an apartment. Jessie will happily walk longer if you have the time. On her walks Jessie loves to meet people and other dogs. She can be a little exuberant and jumpy so needs a bit more guidance. She is still a young girl so her excitability is understandable. Jessie is gentle with calm dogs but if a dog she meets is up for play she will happily oblige. Still a puppy, Jessie is very enthusiastic in her play with another dog.
The transition into her foster home was a bit of a challenge for Jessie as she was quite anxious and took a couple of weeks for her to become more relaxed. She is now much more chilled and enjoying all the love and affection. Jessie is quickly learning what is expected in the home. She is able to learn some basic commands. Jessie is able to climb stairs and happy to travel in the elevator to her apartment. Jessie will need a home with some space to do her zoomies. After most walks she will zoom about the home to expend that last bit of energy and then plonk in her bed exhausted often with her tongue lolling out to the side.
In her spare time Jessie is inclined to collect various household items to bring to her bed. If you can’t find the jumper you wanted to put on, maybe check that Jessie isn’t lying on it.
Like a lot of foster greys during the last lockdown, Jessie has had a human at home with her almost all the time so may take some time to adjust to being left home alone. She would happily share the home with a suitable medium to large dog.
Jessie has a love of life. She is cheeky, quirky and will bring joy and laughter to her humans if they have the time and commitment to offer a young energetic girl.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
