About Willy
Willy is a strikingly handsome golden fawn with a white chest and toes. He has adapted to this life as a pet and companion very quickly. He has mastered stairs and understands the routines and rules of the home. He has good manners in the home and quite happy to wait in his bed until his human gets up in the morning.
At home Willy is happy to chill with you but has also been OK being left home alone for a couple of hours. He does like to have some play time with his human. Hide and seek is a favourite and he will spin with joy. Willy is very patient and will wait for the signal that he can start his dinner. Often after dinner he will seek out his human for an appreciative snuggle and pat.
Willy has a bit more energy to burn so needs two good walks each day. He is strong and can be enthusiastic so is walked in a harness. On his adventures Willy needs to say hello to everybody and can be excitable. His favourites people to meet are tradies which his foster carer doesn’t mind at all (wink!)
Nothing much phases this confident boy. He’s not bothered by traffic, trams or crowds. He’ll happily accompany you to the pub and appreciate a cuddle with your mates in exchange for the odd potato chip.
Willy is happy to meet and hang out with other large and medium dogs so would be able to share a home with a suitable doggy companion.
Our Willy is a big affectionate and easy going leggy blonde. His foster Mum is right, he is a joy to be around.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
