About Betty
Betty is a delightful easy girl. Her bright personality brings a smile to everyone she meets. Betty’s walks are a pleasure. She loves to meet new people and will happily say hello to everyone. Betty is a relaxed walker and has been fine with all the dogs she meets on her strolls. Betty does need a moderate amount of exercise. She is currently enjoying two 30 minute walks and some time to play at home.
Being a bit of a social buttery, Betty also loves to accompany you to cafes and picnics. She loves the attention. Betty is also very happy on car trips.
In the home Betty has settled in very well. She is toilet trained but will need easy access to a yard as she insists on a quick pee immediately after dinner. Betty is well behaved and respectful of the house rules but can snaffle the occasional food item left unattended or check out the coffee left on the table. Betty is learning some basic commands like “wait” and “on your bed”
Betty is playful and has some favourite games at home. She lovers shoes and socks and will collect them if left lying around. She has even tried to souvenir a shoe whilst the human was still wearing it.
In her foster home Betty has been very happy with another female greyhound. They get along very well. We feel Betty would be happy to have another suitable dog for company in her adoption home. If she was to be the only dog, the new owners would need some patience to help her adjust to being alone.
Betty will brighten up your life.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
