About Peanut ~ 7mo Kelpie X BC (On Trial 7/11/21)
Meet Peanut! Peanut is a very sweet natured and playful 7 month old Kelpie x Border collie who has plenty of energy to burn. Peanut’s favourite activities include going to the beach, playing fetch in the garden, stealing socks or chewing sticks. He is quite the shadow around the home, following his foster mum everywhere, but if he’s had plenty of exercise he usually flops on the floor happily with a toy or something to chew while you go about your day.
Peanut is a very social pup who loves to go up to any human he spots for a pat. Although he is a little cautious and timid around other dogs as they approach when out on walks, he enjoys socialising at the dog park. Peanut is a very intelligent boy who is picking up new skills from training quickly, he is still learning to heel on the lead but understands general commands like sit, drop, and wait and is highly driven by treat rewards. As a working dog breed, he will need someone committed to his training further and plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Peanut is toilet trained to a degree, but he still has a few accidents inside the house when overexcited.
Peanut has come from a single dog home, but has been fostered with another Kelpie x 11 month old who he follows everywhere. Peanut generally hasn’t been known to resource guard and has a very gentle temperament, but does enjoy some puppy play. He would be suited to a home as either an only fur child or with an older K9 sibling he can learn from and who would be willing to play with a young pup. Peanut has not been tested around any other animals. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training so enrolling Peanut in some adolescent puppy classes would be encouraged.
Peanut would suit a variety of family units, but may still jump up on children- so families with kids over 5 would be more suitable. Peanut doesn’t like being locked outside if he knows his humans are inside, so will need to be welcome in the home. He is becoming accustomed to crate training at night in his foster Mum’s bedroom. A medium to large backyard would be best for Peanut’s new home so he has room to run and play, with 5-6ft fencing (colorbond preferable).
Peanut's adoption fee is $600, he has been desexed, microchipped, and received up to date flea and worm treatment. For more information on Peanut please contact Carlie at carlie.drn@hotmail.com, you can fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
