About Huxley ~ 6mo Mastiff X(On Trial 26/11/21)
Introducing Huxley, a 7 month old Mastiff X that loves all the company and attention in the world. Huxley hasn’t had the best start to life and would love a forever home with someone who is patient and understanding of his situation.
Huxley is a GIANT puppy already weighing 35 kilograms, but he's a big bundle of love and slobber. He adores following his foster carers around all day and being involved in everything you're doing. Huxley has been responding well to training and learning new things however he doesn't know it all yet, his training will need to continue as he grows and adapts to his new forever lifestyle.
Huxley walks well on the lead with a harness when he is relaxed, but when passing other dogs he gets very excited and will pull towards/bark at the dog. He’s still learning how to be social. Huxley's new owner must have experience with large breed dogs and be able to handle his size, Huxley will need someone committed to continuing his training and social skills.
Huxley is currently living with two other dogs and is getting along with them fine. Due to his age he still has many of his puppy traits and often doesn't realise his size. His foster dog siblings are trying to show him how to be a dog but sometimes he can get annoying with all the kisses and slobber he has to share. If Huxley’s forever home already has another pet, hopefully they are patient/tolerant with Huxley as he grows and learns how to socialise properly, they will need to do a meet and greet prior to adoption.
Unfortunately no units, small yards or first time dog owners will be considered. Huxley has been allowed inside while in foster care and is doing so well with his toilet training, he enjoys the freedom of going in and out as he pleases and has learned to use the doggy dog very quickly. Huxley currently sleeps beside the bed next to his foster mum on a mat with his foster dogs and would love to have the same opportunity in his new home.
Huxley needs a commitment to ongoing human and animal interaction while still young to ensure he receives the best start to being well rounded and an amazing family dog. This means trips to the beach, walks around the neighbourhood, appropriate and safe experiences at dog parks and always on a lead while learning. Huxley has learned very quickly not to jump up however due to his breed and potential size children confident around dogs are preferred.
Requirement-
- A home with a patient/tolerant dog (or can be suited to being an only dog if given enough stimulation and attention).
- Must have secure fully fenced yards, being 6ft + colourbond fencing (no dog pens/rural fencing or deteriorated paling fences)
- BIG MUST is a comprehensive puppy plan (puppy school or training) will be highly regarded.
Huxley is desexed and all his vet work is up to date. Huxley travels well in the car, he just lays down in the back on his bed. Huxley loves attention and pats, he will definitely try curl up on your lap or sleep at your feet, Huxley also loves pig ears and playing with every toy ever made and he is learning to eat his veggies!
