About Koko ~ 6mo Kelpie X(On trial 09/11/21)
This gorgeous girl is Koko, a 6 month old Kelpie X. She is an affectionate, energetic yet timid (till she knows you) looking for a family who will include her in all family activities as she loves her human company.
A daily walk is not enough for Koko who has energy to spare. She also needs a big back yard to run and play, as well as opportunities to expel her energy at places like the beach and off leash dog parks where she can’t stray too far. She is friendly to other dogs, animals (chickens and a free range pet rabbit) and children. With boisterous running play she likes to nip, training will need to be continued in this area. Once she has made friends with another dog, she loves to play chasing and will do so for ages. She also enjoys chew toys, and is learning about enrichment toys that contain yummy treats.
Koko sleeps in a crate inside but prefers being on a bed with a human. She becomes anxious if left alone for long periods of time. For that reason she will need to go to a family where someone is home most of the time or there is another compatible dog for company. When people are home she needs to be able to be inside and happily curls up at your feet or next to you on the lounge if allowed. Crate training has been started but she will sleep on the end of your bed given half a chance. Koko learns eagerly and fast is partially house trained and continues to improve quickly. She is also very smart and very responsive to food rewards.
Koko would benefit from a farm lifestyle with an energetic family with older children accustomed to more energetic puppies. She is eager to please and responsive to teaching and gets very nervous if she thinks she’s done something wrong. Her forever family also need to be committed to continuing her training and who understand that she will need exercise and mental stimulation.
Her forever home will need secure fencing with no areas that could be dug underneath. While she doesn’t show any signs of wanting to escape, she can jump and climb trying to find her humans when they go missing.
As Koko is not yet desexed and is booked in for mid November, she is not available to any homes outside the Newcastle Region. Unfortunately no out of area adoptions will be considered. She must be returned to the vet she is booked in with for desexing.
