**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time and energy. Puppies require daily exercise, positive socialisation with other people/dogs/puppies/places, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and personal commitments. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Frank
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Owner surrender with his male sibling. They didn’t have the best start in life but are now thriving in foster care
BREED: Staffordshire Bull Terrier x Australian Shepherd
BREED CHARACTERISICS:
Staffordshire Bull Terrier – affectionate and loving with family they are known as Nanny dogs as they are great with children if brought up with them correctly. They love to be with their people and do not cope with being alone, therefore are not outside dogs. They are energetic and need a really good work out every day. Early training is essential especially consistent and positive socialisation with other dogs. Bold, intelligent, reliable, and loyal, this breed is not for novice owners
Australian Shepherd – a working breed to herd livestock is intelligent, good-natured, affectionate, kid friendly, dog friendly, active, protective but can be aloof with strangers. They can be a family dog but their energy and intelligence need to be channelled – they have energy to burn and may herd your children. Easy to train they are very playful but iIf bored become destructive and will bark. They need an active family and need to be with them. Daily obedience training and exposure to different people starting in puppyhood are essential
ENERGY LEVEL: Typical pup at the moment, plays, eats, poops and sleeps! We expect them to be medium sized with medium to high energy level..
ASSETS: He’s friendly, easy-going, affectionate, playful, naughty and extremely cute! He also loves cuddles.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Both puppies are learning to play and they love playing together.
WORKING ON: Housetraining. It’s starting to come together but he will need some gentle training and persistent gentle signals to remind him to go outside. He will also need lead and command training. Puppy school and ongoing training are a must. Being part working breed training should be easy as he will be eager to learn.
IDEAL HOME: All of our puppies need homes where they are treated as part of the family and allowed to come and go inside and out as they need. A decent sized home and yard are a must for them to live happily and blow off steam. Another dog would be great, dog-friendly cats are good too if the cat is dog savvy and the pup is introduced correctly and with care to keep your cat safe. We would like him to go to an experienced family where someone is home for most of the day.
If Frank sounds like the perfect pup for you, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
