About Sparko
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Sparko
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound.
BREED: Terrier X
Terrier breed traits: – they come in all shapes and sizes and were bred for different reasons but many were for farm work or ratting. Today they are mainly companions. Terriers are generally high energy, very bright and quick to learn but can be stubborn. They have strong personalities and a sense of fun and want to be included in everything you do. Don't take on a terrier unless you really do want a companion.
ASSETS: Easygoing, affectionate, eager to please, friendly, outgoing, obedient, active, sweet and playful just about sums this gorgeous boy up. He has a very sweet nature, is extremely affectionate and loves meeting new people.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Cuddles! He absolutely loves his people and is never happier than when he’s curled up on the lounge with his person for a snuggle. He also loves to get out and about to the park for a runaround. He loves children as long as they are gentle and enjoys going to the bus stop with his foster family every morning to see the kids off to school as he gets lots of attention there.
ENDEARING FEATURES: Sparko loves to be picked up and cuddled, and he will rest his head on your shoulder. He’s a complete delight to be around and will jump up in the air when he gets excited.
OTHER ANIMALS: He lacks confidence when meeting new dogs and is wary when around dogs that are larger than him and will bark, so will need slow, supervised introductions. He is living with a small dog in his foster home and they get on fine but his carer feels he would love to be an only dog and get all the attention. There is also a cat at his foster home that he doesn’t really interact with and they don’t seem too fussed by each other.
GENERAL INFO: Sparko walks nicely on his lead and is housetrained. He occasionally barks when the neighbours' dogs are barking and isn’t a fan of the lawnmower or whippersnipper. Sparko has not had a lot of experience of the outside world having been a yard dog so he doesn’t like big trucks going by him when he’s out for a walk and is a little bit wary of new visitors to his home. His command training is coming along well but will need work from his new owner. He’s very food driven, which will make training that bit easier. He is currently crated at night and enjoys the freedom to be inside or outside as he chooses during the day.
