About Wesby
Wesby is a happy, playful and friendly pup with a very sweet nature.
He is affectionate and loves nothing better than a cuddle on the couch - often on his human's lap, forgetting his size! (currently 30kg) He really does love his people. He also loves to play and given a healthy supply of toys he is more than happy to keep himself occupied and laze around in the sun having a chew. If the humans are home and keen to play, even better!
Wesby loves other dogs, so much so that he wants to greet and play with every dog (and human) he meets! While some dogs love this, not all dogs want to make a big new friend, so he has been working on maintaining focus on his foster parents while on his walks and is progressing well. He is also working on mastering the rules of doggy play and is learning his size, but we don't expect he would be suited to going to the dog park at least initially while he continues to learn. Having said that, he has come along leaps and bounds in this regard and plays well with his large breed foster sister, so with continued focus on training we think this is a possibility for him!
Wesby loves his walks but doesn't have a huge exercise requirement. A walk or two around the neighbourhood each day is fine, and if there are some adventures to partake in on the weekends (bushwalks, beach strolls, etc) he would be so grateful to be included.
He is a beautiful confident boy when out and about and would love to be included in his new family's activities. Wesby is a smart dog who is food motivated and really wants to please so his training has been coming along really well in care. He sits beautifully (no treat required for this one - praise and pats from his humans is all he needs!) and is toilet trained. He has been walking well on a front clip harness while in care but as a former country boy he can still get a little distracted by the sights and sounds around him, so further reinforcement of positive behaviour on leash would be beneficial. He also comes when called at home (he hasn't been tested in an off leash scenario) and happily sleeps in a crate - he has even started putting himself to bed in there when he gets tired every now and then!
Wesby's new family must be committed to further training as he is still a big puppy so it is important that his family continues to reinforce positive manners and behaviours. As he is a beautifully natured boy with a desire to please we are sure this will be very rewarding.
Wesby's number one criteria for his new family is a home full of love - he is an absolute sweetheart with so much love to give and would love some pats and cuddles in return. He would love a home where his family is around more often than not, where he is allowed inside and included as part of the family, and he must sleep inside at night.
He is friendly around children but given his size and playful nature a home without any young children would be best in case he accidentally bumps into them. A home with another large playful dog would be good and or someone home most of the time. He has not been tested with cats or pocket pets. Wesby can't wait to meet his forever family!

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
