About Xena
Xena will require:
* Any children to be well into their teens
* No cats, pocket pets or other animals
* A home as an only dog or possibly with a male Akita
* Daily walks, always on lead
*A reasonably large yard with grass areas for digging and an undercover area for shelter
* Fences and gates will need to be at least 6 foot high, secure and dig-proof
* Experience with Akita ownership is essential. Please do not apply unless you meet all Xena's requirements
Little Xena has been through a lot of life changes lately and just wants a forever home to call her own. She is a very typical Akita girl.95% of the time Xena is a super-chilled dog who spends most of the day sleeping, preferably in a spot where she can keep surveillance on her humans! But that all goes out the window first thing in the morning when she wants to sing the song of her people while running around the house, so a morning walk ASAP to get her back to chill-mode is recommended.
She walks reasonably well on lead but does need to occasionally be reminded of manners, she also has a problem with walking straight as she's easily distracted by all the good sniffs.
Xena is a typical Akita girl in her reaction to anyone outside her family home. She can be a bit aloof initially and will grumble at new people getting too close, but once she bonds to someone, she bonds hard and fast and will happily barrel herself into you for cuddles. She needs a home where her humans will be home more often than not - she doesn't do the best on her own although she can be okay for a couple of hours inside with the TV or radio on, and she must have her teddy with her! If left outside you'll come back to puppy energy levels as she can't contain her excitement at her human being back.
Xena would possibly accept an adult male Akita to share her home with. She would also be happy to be a bachelorette but she definitely would not approve of cohabitation with small dogs or other animals. She needs a secure yard, an Akita-experienced family and daily walks.
Xena is not available for interstate adoption and is not suitable for apartments, homes with small yards or rural areas with insecure/farm fencing.
