• Humans who are old enough to manage a dog who is still learning to keep four paws on the ground.
• A commitment to continued training and socialisation
Rayla is an energetic, playful girl looking for an active home. She is timid until she gets to know you. Once she feels at home she loves cuddles, sun baking or playing outside. She is always ready to chase her frisbee, ball etc and can happily occupy herself outside. We have not left her alone for more than a few hours but think she would get used to being on her own during work hours, especially if she has a doggie door.
Rayla is very intelligent and relatively easy to train, she knows to go to the bathroom on command and also familiar with sit, stay, wait and bedtime. She has previously lived with another dog, and we suspect that she would treat other pets as she would sheep. She does occasionally still jump up on people and is also capable of jumping quite high when playing.
We have not had Rayla near children but think she maybe too boisterous for very young children at times. Her original owners appear to have allowed her on furniture and beds, she now knows she is not allowed on people furniture, although she sometimes forgets.
Her most distinctive physical feature is her ears, they are very expressive, sometimes she twists the top so that they appear almost pointed. Most of her communication is done either by her ears or her tail. Rayla needs an owner who is willing to work with her on socialisation and to learn the best way to deal with her fear reaction to some new situations. She is not yet fully vaccinated so has minimal lead training as yet but we are working on it.
Rayla is from the country and is not yet used to busy places.
She needs a home with a reasonable yard and room to run is essential. We are on a standard suburban lot so playing fetch usually results in multiple laps of the yard. She loves fast turns and her claws dig into soft ground so she may not be suited to someone who has prized turf. You will soon come to know if she needs exercise.
When sending an enquiry please include some information about the people in your home, your experience with dogs.
